Feature 1st Place 50 Points
Photographer: Richard Sitler, The Herald Bulletin
Image:f_189-hispanic
Judges Comments: Love the juxtaposition between the kids and the display above them. Only critique is, and I’m not sure how this would play, but maybe trying to get on their level. It seems like you are just standing up normally, I would love to see it from a lower angle.
Feature 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: Richard Sitler, The Herald Bulletin
Image:f_189-trex
Judges Comments: Dinos is great, I love the little boy looking at the big dinosaur. Maybe the moment was quick, but if there was a way to move to your side to only get those to and maybe the sign, that would be awesome because I am a bit distracted by the mom and a little bit by the boy in the back as well, but love the look from the first boy and the big Dino.
Feature 3rd Place 30 Points

Judges Comments: Nice moment with the colors and the layering
General_News 1st Place Cream of the Crop 60 Points
Photographer: Richard Sitler, The Herald Bulletin
Image:gn_189-cpr
Judges Comments:
By far the strongest image. I love the moment between older guy and child. I wish the water bottle was cropped out, but thats a tiny detail and the moment upfront does make me stay with them.

Judges Comments:
I really wish you had the little girls name, but I do move the moment of it, the little girls reaction along with the persons in the back. I wish you were more down on her angle, but it does seem like it happened fast.

Judges Comments:
Love this juxtaposition of the man in the bus lane, with the bus and additional cars coming.

Judges Comments:
I do enjoy this photo, but I wish the spread wasnt as big between the people. Also I think you could crop the car with the lady in it, and it would still be a fine image.
Sports_Action 1st Place 50 Points
Photographer: AJ Mast, Independent Photojournalist
Image:sa_1-fumble
Judges Comments:
Love this moment and how clearly you can see the hand on hand action. Great photo.
Sports_Action 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: AJ Mast, Independent Photojournalist
Image:sa_1-break
Judges Comments:
Also a great moment in the end zone. I love how you can see both faces and eyes along with the Browns players eyes on the ball.
Sports_Action 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: MaCabe Brown, Courier & Press
Image:sa_116-stop copy
Judges Comments: It’s messy, but it does a good job at showing how messy the play is without too much going on and being distracted.
Sports_Feature 1st Place 50 Points
Photographer: MaCabe Brown, Courier & Press
Image:sf_116-loser copy
Judges Comments: I love the dejection from the player laying down and the juxtaposition from the other team’s energy running happily back.
Sports_Feature 2nd Place 40 Points
Photographer: MaCabe Brown, Courier & Press
Image:sf_116-flag copy
Judges Comments: Nice fresh look at a National Anthem wide shot of the gym, something I don’t see very often.
Sports_Feature 3rd Place 30 Points
Photographer: Joseph Garza, Tribune-Star
Image:sf_80-friends
Judges Comments:
I love the connection between these two, especially with them being on separate teams. Even without their faces it shows the moment between the two that works.

Judges Comments:
I do enjoy this photo, but I dont think it places because it took me way too long to realize they were on separate teams and that it was a feature and not an action photo. I just saw body on body in end zone and thought it was a tackle.
