INPA Monthly Digital Clip Contest Rules
INPA Monthly Clip Contest is open to INPA members in good standing only. When available the overall winner for the year will receive a camera from Nikon or Canon.
1. Categories are: Sports, Feature, General News, Multiple (Monthly) and Spot News, Illustration (Judged Quarterly). Each clip entered in the monthly clip contest must have been published in that month. It must have been published in a newspaper or magazine and/or published on a newspaper or magazine website. Clips sent to news agencies for publication like the Associated Press, Reuters etc. are also accepted as published.
2. Clip images must be Web Uploaded by midnight EST on the 10th of each month. There is a limit of 10 entries per person each month. A multiple counts as a single entry.
3. Pictures can only be entered in one category, except for multiples. A single can be pulled from multiples and entered in a single category. A photo or story may only be entered one time during the contest year, regardless of how many times it is published.
4. Each entry must have the following IPTC fields filled out:
Category: S=Sports, F=Feature, SN=Spot News, GN=General News, M=Multiple, I=Illustration
Photographer/Creator/Author: Photographers Name and affiliation (i.e. Jon Doe, The Springfield Evening Tribune )
Caption: Concise, MUST NOT HAVE Photographers name or affiliation.
Multiple entries should have a paragraph explaining the package before the caption of the first photo.
Title/Authors Title: Email address of photographer
Special Instructions: The month of Publication (day of month optional)
Failure to fill these fields out properly will result in disqualification.

5. All Images need to be put in a single folder, named with the photographers 3-initial code and city with Multiple each being in their own folder inside. All files must end in lower case .jpg.
The only non alpha numerical (a-z, 0-9) character allowed in file or folder names is the underscore _ .
John J. Doe of Springfield would have a FOLDER named JJDS inside would be:
Single Images should be named:
CATEGORY_PHOTOGRAPHERS NAME/CITY INITIALS_SEQ.
Examples: Entries for John J. Doe, Springfield:
Sports entry S_JJDS_01.jpg
Feature entry F_JJDS_01.jpg
Spot News entry SN_JJDS_01.jpg
General News entry GN_JJDS_02.jpg
Multiple entry For Multiples a letter sequence should be added to the Category and be in a folder named with the category and initials.
If you are only entering one Multi entry, you still need to put a sequence letter (a) after the M in the filenames and folder name. (i.e. Ma_….)

6. Images should be sized to 640 px on the longest side, and JPG compression should be at 6.
7. Images that ran in color may be entered in B&W and vice versa.
8. All images/folders placed in one folder named with your initials/city code (ex:JJDS) must be zipped and sent via Web Upload:

Control Click and hold on the folder
Select “Creative Archive of …”Windows:
Right click the folder of entries Select “Send To…”
Select “Compressed (zipped) Folder”This will create a folder, in the same place as the original, named the same as the original, but ending in .zip. This is the folder you upload.
It must be named initial+city_code.zip (i.e. jjds.zip).
If your folder does not look like one of these, do not send it. To Send:

The chairman reviews each request for log in, so it may take up to 24-hours for the chairman to reply.Web Upload is the only entry method.
9. Points are awarded as follows for each months winning entries:
- 1st: 50 points
- 2nd: 40 points
- 3rd: 30 points
- HM: 10 points
- Cream of the Crop: 5 points
