Some judges liked this picture while other passed it over in the first round. In the end we agreed on the graphic appeal of the elements photographed. May have benefitted from a crop below the horizon or above the tree line.

Judges enjoyed looking at the pictures and learning about this unique subject. Many of the images would have done well on their own in other categories. Would have liked to see it in color.

Another good collection of images. Many of the shots stand on their own and would have been solid in the sports action and sports feature categories. A few pictures could have been edited out but overall it was good. Would have liked to have seen this in color as well.

Judges Comments:
Overall the portrait category was pretty weak. A few of the images would have done well if they were placed in the feature category.

This one jumped out to the judges immediately however. One of the few images in the category where we felt we got to learn something about the subject. We would have liked to see it in color though.
