The black background contrasting with the red accordion worked especially well with the man’s body language and the photographer’s crop.

We loved this portrait, but we wished the light was hidden behind the horse’s ear. Our attention was distracted by it.

An awesome, tight moment denying a dunk, which doesn’t happen often in high school games. I’m sure a blocked dunk in high school games is especially rare!

Judges Comments:
We loved the framing of this image because it is unusual from a net cutting. But we couldn’t help to question if the coach was honestly reacting like this or if the photographer’s presence created the reaction. Also, we wished the fans were engaged.

The water spraying of the left of the frame, along with the colors, made this image stand out for us.

The judges were split on this image. The sign was incredibly interesting to some, while others thought there was nothing more to the image except for the sign. We wished the officer showed some emotion.

Judges Comments:
We loved the girl’s startling reaction. But when we zoomed in closer, we noticed she was chewing on a plastic utensil. Even still, her hand on the window still conveyed interest in the juxtaposition of the scene.
